Optivane started with data. Years of cleaning it, modelling it, and occasionally arguing with it teach you where software really fails: not in the big idea, but in the unglamorous places. The import that breaks on one edge case. The screen that takes four seconds to load. The setting that quietly doesn’t stick.
When the current wave of AI arrived, getting deep into it was less a decision than a reflex. It is the most interesting thing to happen to this work in years, and most of our time with it goes to a single question: where does it genuinely earn a place in a product, and where is it just decoration?
An instrument that guesses isn’t an instrument. We’d rather ship a smaller thing that is right.
The name comes from there. A vane reads the wind and shows you the way, a plain and honest direction with nothing added. That is the job we want our software to do, and Optivane is where it becomes shipped software.
